In this full-length pose, the subject is standing erect, slightly turned toward his right. He is wearing a long raincoat and a brimmed hat and is carrying a walking stick in his right hand. He stands on a stone path with his two large dark dogs by either side of him. One dog is standing on all fours; the other is lying down. Both are staring straight ahead at the viewer. In the background there is a forest.
