This is a black and white photograph of three wooden sculptures in the Red Drawing Room at Isabella Stewart Gardner’s Beacon Street home. The center sculpture is mounted on a white door. It is arch-shaped and the carved elements all sit recessed within it. It depicts a virgin and child in the upper half, a king in the lower left corner, and a bishop in the lower right corner. There are four angel heads decorating the top of the arch, just above the virgin's head. An additional angel head is placed right below the virgin’s feet. Flanking the center sculpture, mounted on the frame of the door, are two additional wooden figures. On our left is a standing bishop and on our right is Saint Peter Martyr, who is draped in a heavy robe. Both figures have their hands clasped in front of their chests in prayer. The walls of the room are upholstered in a dark floral damask covering. An ornate mirror is positioned slightly out of frame to our left and an elaborate porcelain pitcher rests on an unseen surface to our right.
