Lace Border, 16th century
Linen, darned netting and bobbin lace, 287 x 16.5 cm (113 x 6 1/2 in.)
This vertical lace border has a repeated snowflake pattern which creates triangular shapes. Within each of these triangles is a bird or animal figure. The right side of the border has a scalloped trim while the left side is straight chain stitch. There are several small holes in this piece.
