Indian
Dagger and Sheath, 19th century
Steel blade with jade, stone, and brass handle and cotton-covered wood sheath, 29.2 x 3.8 cm (11 1/2 x 1 1/2 in.)
This Indian knife and sheath has a narrow, slightly s-curved blade and handle, terminating in a very sharp dagger-like point. The steel blade widens as it delicately curves to join the brass, curved handle covered with dark green jade at the hilt and tip of the handle. In the center of the handle is a rectangular piece of brown and black stone, demarcated by vertical white lines. A small metal loop has been inserted into the end of the handle. The sheath for the blade of the knife is horn-shaped and made of wood, covered with dark brown-black cotton fabric dotted with light gray dots alternately spaced in three rows.
