Pair of Armchairs (Poltrone a pozzetto), mid 18th century
Gilded walnut
These Italian armchairs date from the mid 18th century and are constructed of gilded walnut. These barrel style chairs have a gracefully curved back and are upholstered in gold and white damask fabric. There is a small fringe at the bottom of the apron. The front legs are highly carved and gilded, and rest on small round feet. The back legs are plain.
