This dark walnut armchair is formed by a series of curving wooden slats, set from front to back, alternating in direction and crossing to form an X under a wooden seat.  The overall effect of the upper curve is to form a half circle in which to sit, viewing the chair from the front, and a chair base that widens out from the X under the seat.  The upper slats, above the seat curve,  reach up to join a wooden chair arm on each side, and a wooden chair back at roughly the same arm level joins the back of the armrests.  Below the seat, the lower slats curve out from the X to roughly the width of the chair arms, and reach down to a wooden base, on each side, that is roughly the depth of the chair.   The top of the chair’s arms are curved, higher toward the chair back, and with carved circular hand rests at the front. The chair back is shaped with some curving cutouts and features a simple carved crest outline in the center.  The back of the chair is open under the chair back, and the front of the chair’s bases are simply carved claw feet.  Wooden joints are visible on the seat front and at the front of the X.
