Punch Ladle, early 19th century
Silver with ivory handle, 21 cm (8 1/4 in.)
This American punch ladle has a slender ribbed ivory grip attached to a sterling silver extension that is soldered to a round, single-lipped bowl. The bowl is crimped around the edge with a barbed wire trim of hammered silver. On the outside center of the bottom of the bowl is a wispy decorative design and the monogrammed scrolled letters “BJA”. The “J” is slightly above the “B” and the “A”.
