This vertical etching shows a portrait of a seated light-skinned woman from the waist up. She is facing forward and looking toward us. The side of her face to our left is mostly shaded. Her hair is tied up and topped with a feathered headpiece. She wears a dark colored dress with a collar that comes up high and covers her neck. The woman’s face is rendered with shorter black lines, while the lines of her clothing are thicker and longer. The background of the etching is very lightly sketched with the suggestion of a window or a painting.
