This etching is a portrait of a man, identified as S. Loeb. Loeb is seated with his body slightly turned toward our right as he looks directly at the viewer. He has curly white hair surrounding a bald area at the top of his head. His curly white hair grows onto his cheeks to form muttonchop sideburns and a mustache. He is medium-dark skinned with a large, hooked nose, bushy white eyebrows and dark eyes that stare intently outward. He wears a dark lapeled jacket, a dark tie, and a white colored shirt, and has a dark overcoat around his shoulders. This piece is signed and dated on the lower right, and is signed in pencil in the lower right.
