This rectangular etching is in the vertical position. It depicts a coastal scene with a figure in the foreground, a sailboat at mid-ground, and a vague, distant shore line in the background. The figure is female, nude but with a drape over her shoulders, and standing on the high grasses and other plants at the water’s edge. She is tall with long, stocky legs. Her hair is pulled loosely up and back from her face and her gaze is ahead and slightly down. The boat is a simple rowboat with a single striped mast which is fully unfurled. It rests against a rocky area of the shore line; a reflection of the sail appears in the water. The etching is signed and dated on the lower right corner of the plate, and there is an inscription in pencil on the bottom margin.
