This disc shaped, bronze gong is suspended by two short chains from a square wooden frame. The frame is stained a red-brown mahogany color and decorated with a pair of carved wooden children who attempt to climb the vertical members of the frame. The bald child on the left looks up at his goal, the top of the frame, as he squats on the bottom horizontal member and points with his right index finger toward the viewer.. The child on the right looks down at his foot  resting on the bottom horizontal support as he lifts his left leg to start his vertical climb. His right arm reaches as high as possible. Both children are bald and chubby. There are delicate flowers decorating their shirts and trousers. The billowing folds of their jackets and large sleeve ruffles makes them seem in motion rather than merely contemplating their climb. The heavy bronze gong is supported additionally by scroll form corner brackets in the three of the four corners and an additional arched horizontal support that spans the lower end of the frame. The frame sits in a pair of arched wooden feet set perpendicular to the square frame.
