Buckle: Cross of Saint Esprit, before 1924
Gold filagree with diamond, ruby, emerald, and sapphire, 12.1 x 5.7 cm (4 3/4 x 2 1/4 in.)
This buckle is gold filigree with inset diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. The overall outline of this highly jeweled buckle is a vertical oval. The top half has a bow encrusted with diamonds, framed with intertwined gold vines with inset diamonds. In the middle is a diamond covered figure of a descending dove. Below the dove is intertwined metal vines with clusters of rubies and sapphires. On back of the buckle you can see the smooth gold back of the bow and dove, and the small bulbs where the jewels are nestled in the front.
