This plaster relief of the ark of the covenant is formed on a simple, slightly raised circle-within-a-circle background. A side view of a round topped chest fills the inner circle of the plaster medallion. Two studded straps around the body of the chest connect to a thick horizontal pole that bisects the inner circle. The chest has a substantial composite base that diminishes in size as it approaches the lower edge of the inner circle. There are four total sets of wings around the trunk, arranged symmetrically. A pair of smaller wings flank the ark on each end and two larger pairs intersect and cover the center of the ark. The smaller pair curve long, feathered wings and tail feathers inward to form a rounded shape that meets at the top center above the ark and arches down to the bottom of the trunk. The larger pairs of wings in the center intertwine tightly so that their tails and wings overlap and point in opposite directions. All of the wings appear in front of the trunk, but behind the horizontal pole.
