This rectangular Roman sarcophagus was carved from sandstone and has a mottled grayish appearance. The front is framed with three simple rectangular borders, one inside the other, and adorned with two large cherub heads with a coat of arms in between them. The cherubs have short wavy hair over their foreheads; their eyes look up and their mouths open in a grimace. Each head also has a pair of wings. The bottom part of the wings forms a U shape abound the head, framing the cheeks of the heads, while the top part of the wings bends out perpendicularly to the head and extends out of the frame of the sarcophagus. On each pair of wings, the wing to our left is raised slightly higher than the right. The unidentified coat of arms is carved in the shape of a paddle and has three six-point stars- two across the top with one below. Between the top row of stars and the bottom star is a three tiered pyramid that ends where the paddle “handle” starts. Between the paddle and the cherub head on our left, under the wing, there is a carved capital A. Between the paddle and the cherub head on our right, under the wing, there is a carved capital L. The background directly behind the heads and paddle is densely textured.  The surface of the coffin has many fractures and chips.
