In this rectangular painting, an iron gate stands open on the viewer’s right.  The gate reaches about three quarters of the height of the painting and behind it stands lush greenery.  Slightly to the left of the gate, two women walk on a lawn in front of a single tall tree in the painting's middle ground.  The women wear long full skirts, one turquoise, one light blue, and matching jackets.  Their facial features are indistinct, but each wears a bonnet.  Behind them, a large house spans the full length and height of the painting.  The house is painted in shades of white, light blue, and pink, with several tall doors and windows on two floors and a small balcony outside of a second floor window to our left.  A man, dressed in black, stands in one of the doorways and two women, one dressed in pink and turquoise the other in white and black, seem ready to enter the doorway.  Another tall tree stands in the far left foreground of the painting.  Just outside of its shade, a small plant in a bright turquoise pot sits in front of the house.
