A naked man stands in the center of a small grey cell while two men remove his skin and he stands still. The victim has a long, unkept, auburn beard and a large, elaborately decorated, semicircular halo. His arms seem too long for his body. He raises one to touch the dark ceiling and the other is offered to a man using a large knife to remove a long, narrow rectangle of bloody skin from his left arm. Blood stains the floor and pools as it drips from the victim’s hip.  Another man, with his knife held in his teeth, uses both hands to separate a large section of flesh from the victim’s right hip, thigh, and leg. The two men are dressed in long sleeved, forest green, knee length robes. One has boots and the other’s feet are bare. Both are bent over the section of the body they are flaying. There is an open window on the left side of the cell. A bald, bearded man in a long green robe peers through the window, watching. A richly dressed king wearing a crown stands just behind him. On the right side there is an open door. A half wall and a tree behind it are visible. The overall scene forms an irregular octagon that is converted to a rectangle by a set of gold decorative corner designs and a simple, narrow, wooden frame.
