Museum Volunteers

If you are someone with an open mind, who delights in learning from and interacting with all kinds of people, consider joining our volunteer program. A background in art or art history is not necessary. The volunteer schedule is flexible and includes Thursday evening and weekend shifts. Volunteers meet visitors from near and far, answer questions about the collection and wayfinding, gather visitor feedback, and help people fall in love with the Gardner.

Museum Volunteer applications are currently closed.

Horticulture Volunteer

The museum’s living plant collection is supported by a small group of volunteers. Volunteers work alongside staff horticulturists to care for and maintain plants, both at the museum’s courtyard, and the museum’s off site nursery where the collection is grown. This is an opportunity to learn and practice fine gardening techniques for a mature, potted plant collection. No previous experience is necessary but attention to detail is a must! Spots are limited but new volunteers are welcomed on a rolling basis. Ability to volunteer at both the museum and the off site nursery is preferred.
