Position Title: Visitor Service Assistant
Reports to: Director of Visitor Services
Department: Visitor Services
Type of Position: Non-exempt, part-time (11:00am-5:00pm); 2 days a week (Saturday and Sunday)
Scope:
The Visitor Service Assistant is responsible for providing courteous service to visitors, guests and groups at the Entrance, Coat Room and Exit of the Museum. Additional responsibilities include working with the Museum's audience tracking system.
Responsibilities:
- Assist all members, groups and visitors of the museum with their ticketing and other needs, including general admission, special exhibits, concerts or events
- Provide and assist visitors seeking general museum information as well as information about various museum programs, activities and events
- Work closely with Security to provide a safe environment for all visitors and to protect the collection
- Encourage museum visitors to take advantage of the various services that the museum offers
- Assist guests and visitors at the Coatroom, both during the day and evening events
- Operate the Museum’s Vista ticketing terminals
- Process admissions transactions efficiently and accurately
- Responsible for attendance at all department training meetings
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Director of Visitor Services
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Fluency in English
- Math proficiency
- Strong computer skills
- Outstanding customer-service skills
- Dependability and punctuality are essential
- Prior customer service or cashier experience is preferred
- Knowledge of the VISTA ticketing system is a plus
- Interest in art or art history preferred
