Position Title: Database Manager
Department: Development
Reports to: Director of Development Systems and Research
Scope of Position
With guidance from the Director of Development Systems and
Research, the Database Manager is responsible for the oversight
and integrity of the Raiser's Edge software system and the
production of detailed analytical reports on a weekly, monthly,
and as-needed project basis. In addition, the Database Manager
serves as the primary trainer and resource for other Museum
staff in the use of Raiser's Edge as an effective fundraising,
membership development and prospect management tool.
Responsibilities
Assure the maintenance of accurate database records
through creation, implementation, and maintenance of structures
and systems
Serve as primary list manager for department, enhancing
existing systems for greater efficiency
Run development mailing lists for museum-wide mailings;
maintaining and coordinating lists with other departments,
including museum-wide e-communication and list consolidation
efforts
Provide timely analytical reports to support the Development
directors and managers as needed, including custom reports
developed through Raiser's Edge and Crystal Reports
Provide ongoing training to development staff on Raiser's
Edge as needed; serve as primary internal "help desk"
for The Raiser's Edge.
Develop and propose strategies and guidance for keeping
the database current, accurate, and used to its fullest capabilities
by Development staff
Become thoroughly familiar with the interface/relationship
between Raiser's Edge and Convio, the Museum's new membership
and marketing development system; provide support and guidance
on the Raiser's Edge/Convio interface as needed
Maintain records for current campaigns, and prepare
reports documenting gifts to campaign
Serve as primary liaison to Information Technology
department
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Prior experience in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge (Version
7) development software/systems required
The Museum's current scope of Raiser's Edge modules
and add-on products includes Membership, Events, Prospect,
and the Researcher's Edge; experience in some or all of these
features is desired
Experience with Crystal Reports is also strongly preferred
Logical thinking and excellent verbal and written communication
skills
The ability and temperament to provide supportive assistance
and consulting/training services to co-workers, and to form
effective partnerships across the Development team
Good judgment and ability to be discreet and handle
confidential information
